Communication with the Seat

In the age of autonomous driving, all information both inside and outside the vehicle will be connected with various network information technologies. The seat connects passengers with exterior information including road conditions and unexpected situations and interior information such as GPS, personal entertainment content information, and lighting functions reflecting the passenger's mood. By linking the vehicle driving information and the adjustment device on the side of the seat, cars automatically respond to turn around corners without the drivers’ handling. In addition, it is connected to respond quickly to external emergencies caused by lane departures or sudden obstacles. It acts as a communicator that connects not only body information but also emotions. Drivers can create a comfortable driving environment by connecting the seat air conditioning system with the seat smart device before boarding the vehicle. We research seats that can communicate with the emotions of passengers based on guaranteed safety.

Adaptive Comfort

In the age of autonomous driving, people will spend much more time in a car, and the platform for car-share will emerge as the key trend. Apart from the basic sitting posture that matches individual physical attributes, it must be sensitive and proactive to adjust to numerous body shapes and postures. The seat will automatically search and provide the best position for the passenger. For shared vehicles, seats will be designed to maximize comfort as an individual space even when sharing spaces with others. We study the optimal seat condition regarding weathers and care the health of passengers with the implementation of future-oriented technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Advanced Safety

In an autonomous driving environment, the interior of the car may be limited but still guarantees the maximum freedom of movement within the given space. Regarding that the existing seat systems provides limited functions in its fixed position, the systems simply focused on high rigidity mechanism and static safety design. In the future, seats will be connected via networks to perform various personalized service functions. Multi-functional mechanisms and dynamic safety designs for better movement will be the key.

In the era of autonomous driving, it is important to provide efficient in-vehicle space and time usage and personalized functions for more convenience to passengers free from handling.Intuitive HMI is essential to receive information and easily meet personalized needs for various driving situations. In addition, HYUNDAI TRANSYS conducts researches on adjustment technologies for having and keeping better views within the vehicle.

Integrated armrest seat module technology

The control armrest module is integrated into the seat for improved indoor space utilization. We are studying moving mechanisms that can be operated in various modes such as general driving mode, rest mode during autonomous driving, and seat rotation for communication mode. We are studying control modes that will be convenient and minimizes any distraction elements for the passengers to substitute for the console.

Touch switching technology

It is a simple and intuitive Touch Interaction Switching Module considering the user's point of view for the better use of necessary functions. It can be applied to a variety of surfaces and shapes and also allows proper interactions with the user. Features such as LED lighting and vibration haptics show that such interaction with the users is possible.
