HYUNDAI TRANSYS has two main directions for electrification. The first is to replace the existing engine and integrate the motor and inverter (known as the hybrid car transmission) or to completely replace the transmission and engine with the motor and inverter.

    The final goal of electrification is EVs and hydrogen vehicles, but industry experts predict
    that hybrid cars and EVs will coexist in the next 10 years. When it comes to reducing greenhouse
    gas emissions, hybrid vehicles will play an important role for a long time. In an internal combustion
    engine vehicle, the engine power is directly transmitted through a transmission, either automatic or manual transmission, to drive the vehicle. In the case of a hybrid vehicle, the engine and the motor are used together. As we moved away from an internal combustion engine to a hybrid, the motor played an essential role in terms of energy efficiency. For example, in the case of an internal combustion vehicle, when the brake is applied during driving, tires are stopped by holding the brake through the pedal. In this process, all regenerative energy is lost as friction energy. On the other hand, in the hybrid or EVs, the braking system does not go through the brake pedal, but it is driven through the motor instead, which means that the energy can be regenerated as a battery. The regenerated energy will travel through the motor again to move the EV forward. This is the key to fuel efficiency. Once we switch from a general internal combustion engine to a hybrid/plug-in hybrid, we can expect a huge improvement in fuel efficiency.
