HYUNDAI TRANSYS Achieves Red Dot Design “Winner” Award

Future Mobility Concept Seat

- Achieved the Winner award at the first attempt with “Future Mobility Concept Seat”
- Proposing the direction of eco-friendly mobility seats through the application of sustainable materials and technologies

HYUNDAI TRANSYS won the “2023 Red Dot Design Award.”

The Red Dot Design Award, organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, is considered one of the world’s top three design competitions, alongside the German iF DESIGN AWARD and the US International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). Winners in each category are selected annually based on several key evaluation criteria, such as innovative design and functionality.

HYUNDAI TRANSYS’ future mobility concept seat, which received the Red Dot Design Award in the Design Concept category under Mobility & Transportation, embodies the theme “Shift to Regenerative Mobility.”

The sustainable direction of the future mobility seat focuses on environmental friendliness, incorporating a fabric made from recycled leather and regenerated PET yarn for its main part. A weaving technique is also applied to the bolster area, utilizing leftover leather scraps to minimize leather waste.

“HYUNDAI TRANSYS’ continuous efforts in developing human and nature-friendly seats have been recognized by the Red Dot Design Award,” Seo Seung-woo, Seat Division Director at HYUNDAI TRANSYS, said. “We will continue introducing sustainable seats that enhance customer convenience and take the lead in realizing environmental values.”

In June 2023, for the first time in the domestic auto parts industry, HYUNDAI TRANSYS’ urban air mobility (UAM) cabin concept, “Hyundai Transys Air Mobility - Flip (HTAM-Flip),” was shortlisted at the “Crystal Cabin Awards,” dubbed the Oscars of aircraft cabin design, establishing itself as a leading company in future mobility space design.
